Terry Gaskins

Inducted into the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame
Award-winning photographer and artist Terry Gaskins graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a B.A. in Fine Art Photography in 1998. Since then her photographs have appeared in over two dozen publications, including the Advocate,
Time Out Chicago, Outlines, and Windy City Times. For several years, Gaskins was the event photographer for Gay Chicago Magazine and wrote the column Out and About.
Several books of her work have been published,
including Lookers (1997), The Male Nude (2008), and Male Nudes Now (2001). Among celebrities she has photographed are Cyndi Lauper, sports figures Greg Louganis, Rudy Galindo and Billie-Jean King.
Also musicians Boy George, Nina Hagen, Chuck Panozza, and other celebrities like John Waters, Elvira and Lady Bunny.
In 2004 Gaskins moved to New Orleans, but returned to Chicago a year later, escaping Hurricane Katrina.
Five months later she returned to New Orleans and wrote two books about the storm: The Very Big Storm, a children's book, Coming Back, Going Home.
Still based in New Orleans, Gaskins continues her work as a photographer and artist.
